Will be Blu Ray Play HD discs?

In terms of consoles, Sony Playstation 3 will use Blu-ray and the Xbox from Microsoft will use HD-DVD.
All these products will be backward compatibility, so will be able to use a standard DVD player 's. They will however play the file format of the competition record. So Blu-Ray will not be able to play HD discs and vice versa.
The truth is that many large companies, much money has been invested intheir products, they like to see the opposition, so the last thing they will do is that they are compatible.
That said, Pioneer and LG announced that they would produce a double Blu-Ray/HD DVD player did. And 'no doubt a function of two different readers, one of Blu-ray and one for HD DVD.
