Blu-ray and HD DVD are competing formats to save disk looking for the place where the DVD format. In fact, try to fit the standard DVD in terms of storage. Although there is always the need to improve an existing system, the two formats has received much attention because of the imminent occurrence of high definition movies, video and television. The names, high-definition DVDs have more space, and is therefore a search for the nextgeneration of DVDs that happens.

Blu Ray and HD DVD battle is that instead of standard DVDs. Numerous research and development went into the creation of all sizes and industry giants are adopting one or the other to put in their products.

Sony and Panasonic are two major consumer electronics companies are going with Blu-ray. All their products will use the Blu-ray.

Toshiba and NEC support HD DVD and all theirProducts will use the HD DVD technology.

In terms of consoles, Sony Playstation 3 will use Blu-ray and the Xbox from Microsoft will use HD-DVD.

All these products will be backward compatibility, so will be able to use a standard DVD player 's. They will however play the file format of the competition record. So Blu-Ray will not be able to play HD discs and vice versa.

The truth is that many large companies, much money has been invested intheir products, they like to see the opposition, so the last thing they will do is that they are compatible.

That said, Pioneer and LG announced that they would produce a double Blu-Ray/HD DVD player did. And 'no doubt a function of two different readers, one of Blu-ray and one for HD DVD. NUK has also recently announced that they have a chip as the processor behind a universal player that can be used to create games in stateBoth Blu-ray and HD-DVD s. 'So things are happening, but you have to wait a couple of years before we see the products on the shelves, and can be expensive to start.
